Current Major Closures
Rutherford Road eastbound and westbound will be reduced to two lanes at Highway 400 starting Tuesday, March 25th. This change in lane configuration will be in effect until December 15, 2025. The reason for this lane reduction is to facilitate the necessary rehabilitation work on the Rutherford Bridge, which spans both the Northbound and Southbound lanes of Highway 400.
Ramp from Highway 400 Northbound to Major Mackenzie will be fully closed from April 25th at 9:00 pm to April 29th at 5:00 am for ramp rehabilitation work. During the full closure, Highway 400 Northbound traffic wishing to access Major Mackenzie will be detoured to Weston Road via Rutherford Westbound.
Ramp from Rutherford Eastbound to Highway 400 Northbound will be fully closed from April 28th at 5:00 am to April 30th at 5:00 am for ramp rehabilitation work. During the full closure, Rutherford Eastbound traffic wishing to access Highway 400 Northbound will be detoured to Major Mackenzie on-ramp via Jane Street.
Lane and Ramp Closures
Highway 400 northbound and southbound, spanning from south of Langstaff Road to north of Major Mackenzie Drive, will experience temporary lane closures throughout the project’s construction. Nighttime lane closures are also expected.
These closures are necessary to facilitate the permanent widening of the highway and the replacement of existing culverts. The project aims to enhance transportation infrastructure and traffic flow.
